For me (and I am not an artist) its over complicated almost for the sake of it.
I also do not like the way the black item around her neck sits and the background lacks imagination as it reminds me of old wall paper from the 60's
Dont get me wrong I like a lot of the detail but for my taste there is simply to much of it..

Very lovely work, I love the "exploding" part of the head. I'm not crazy about the background though, too flat and I agree with A-H about the old wallpaper look. Nice colours and great details I think that it belongs to drawing section

Thanks both! About the background, I considered to make an empty one because the detail of the explosion was exccesive and adding more elements or even colours would add so much distraction to the whole subject. But I appreciate your suggestions!

That's quite nice and interesting.

With regards to being in the right category, I think this should be in drawing. Overall, this is a really nice piece, but I think that the top of the background should be darker. At the bottom, the subject and the explosion really stands out, but it sort of fades to flatness as it gets to the top because of the lighter blue color. I think if there was more contrast at the top, the background could stay flat, but it would bring the subject more into focus in the front and separate it from the background.
